Gist

Hi everyone, my name is Simon and 46yrs old. A year past Jan. I suffered some heart attacks for two days then decided i better go in to A&E. I was rushed to another hospital, by the end of the week I was told i had cancer and to go and spend time with my family, I new then it wasnt good news. Since then i found out my cancer is a GIST, it measured 13cms x 10cms x 8cms and i had some on my liver. I have now been on Gleevec for just under a year, after 6 months the main tumour has shrunk to 4x3cms, a huge difference. I am now waiting for my next scan in the next few days and hopefully it will be reduced more.

Well there we are, sorry to bore you all lol :)

  • Hi Simon

Just wanted to welcome  you to the forum  though as always sad to read the reason you need to  be here.I hope you will find it a friendly and supportive place.  I joined to help me cope during my husband's three year journey with a different kind of cancer but found it helped to have somewhere to express my thoughts (rest assured 'boring' is not a word you worry about when you need to offload).  Thank you for taking time out to share your story and hope others who may have more understanding of your situation will be along soon.  Wishing you all the best with the latest results from  your treatment.Jules54

  • Hi Jules54 thank you for the kind welcome :)

  • Hi simon.i to have a gist. Mine has been removed because they misdiagnosed my systems. They thought I had ovarian cancer. When then operated they found the gist which was attached to my bowel and bladder. I am left with what they call seedlings and I am taking glivec to keep these at bay.
