Hi I've just joined the site. I had breast cancer last year, had lumpectomy n lymph nodes removed too. But am finding a year later that I'm in a lot of pain on side where cancer was. Has anyone else experienced this x

  • Hi Elaine,

Just wanted to welcome you to this friendly forum. Being a man I cant answer your question but saw you havent yet recieved a reply so didnt want you to feel no one cares. I feel sure someone will reply who has more knowledge than me soon. Take care, best wishes, Brian.

  • Hi examine, I had a lumpectomy 10 years ok, I still get soreness in that area every now and again, my doc did say I would get pain now and again so never worried,
  • Hi Elaine. I had all my lymph nodes removed from my left arm pit at the end of september after some pretty harsh chemo, )after which i was declared cancer free, however now i have started having alot of pain and the start of lymphodema with my hand swelling up quite alarmingly, luckly it has gone down again now, the result of all this was more scans the results i get on friday. I found that keeping doing the exercises helped as i felt i was ceasing up, the pain is always there but most days as an ache. Sorry this doesnt really help you but at least you know you are not unique, go to the docs for some pain relief and a chat about it,
  • Hello Elaine,

I see you have already received a warm welcome so I will just add my own welcoming voice. I am one of the Cancer Chat moderators and just wanted to let you know that there is a lady whose username is Eeyore who posted only yesterday hoping to talk to someone who had had lymph nodes removed.

If you or anyone on this thread like Jos or Squibb want to share their experience with her, that would be great. You can read her story here.

Have you talked to your doctor Elaine about the pain you have? It might be worth having a word with him or her as they may be able to offer you some advice or some way to reduce the pain. Our cancer nurses are also just a phone call away (and a free phone call too!) on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
