  • Hi Irishsam.

Several years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Despite a high PSA levelmine was also diagnosed as a low grade as my Gleeson score was 3+3=6 As my psa was so high, I was only offered hormone therapy and radiotherapy. My psa is still very low and I honestly believe, the combination has saved my life. I still suffer from certain side effects like hot flushes but look on them as a small price to pay for the result I have had.

I wish you all the best. If there are any question you want to ask, I will do my best to help.

    Take care, Brian.

  • My psa level was only 4.7 yet my gleason score is 9 and stage is T3a (I was originally told it was T2b)... When I asked if this was a mis-diagnosis I was told that interprating mri scans and dre's is always a bit 'subjective'... I have done a lot of reading and this would appear to be the case for many reasons not least the type if scanner and software being used and the experience of the person reviewing the results... I also queried the disparity between the Gleason score, stage and psa level... After reading an online article by the guy who developed the psa system it would appear that there is no direct corelation, the psa is and was only ever intended to be an indicator.... This is something my specialist ackowledged when I put this too him... Hope that this helps and good luck...
