Recently diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer grade 2.

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and I've been in complete shock. It is starting to sink in now but I can't get my head round anything till I know my treatment plan. I am now waiting for an MRI scan before they can work out what treatment will be best for me.

I know it's all for my best, but the waiting is awful. Everyone I have spoken to that have gone through this have had their operation within 2 weeks of finding out they have  breast cancer. I'm worried the scan is because it has already spread around my breasts.

Has anyone else had to have an MRI??? Can you help??

My lump is now very big.

    Hi PashaBonnieSmasher,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am sure that it must have come as quite a shock. If it’s of any consolation, it becomes a little easier to deal with once you start treatment.

It’s not so good to hear that they have to go in again, as they hadn’t taken a big enough margin. I had to have a double mastectomy a year after my lumpectomy. This was thought to be for the same reason as yours. I had developed a second cancer in the same breast and had a double mastectomy. Even though it is a pain to do this again so soon, it is best to get it over and done with.

I am glad to hear that you have a good support network of friends who have already been through cancer surgery and treatment. You should find this very helpful as you travel your own cancer journey.

I always make a list before every visit to my consultant and I bring someone with me to my appointments. These are both well worth doing if you can.

Have you got a date for your surgery yet? Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Engendi,

A very warm welcome to our community, although I'm sorry for the reason that has brought you here. Have you had a diagnosis yet or are you still waiting upon the results of tests? This is always a scary time, but things do improve once you start treatment.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I've just been diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma. Going through the waiting period. I'm extremely lucky as my doctor is brilliant and is so good at preparing me for the next step. I've been petrified of finding out if it's spread to my lymph nodes as I thought it would be game over if that was the case. Thank you for this post, it is so reassuring. I hope you are well, this is in your distant past now xx
