I Had Cancer Now Its Back In Another Place

Hello to all

Well I will start this discussion again, it all started five years ago with a little lump on the side of my neck, I went to the Drs and she gave me some anti biotics to clear up what she first thought was an inflamation of my glands, well this went on for two weeks finally she sent me off for some tests the Dr that I saw was a really nice man, after doing his tests he sent me for a scan and found a large mass on the base of my tongue, the nodes in my neck were also infected.

Then i had the nodes taken away and six weeks of radiotherapy, well i have been going backwards and forwards to Gloucester Hospital since, last march i had an infection which turned into a severe cough, and phunemonia, since then i have never got over it and have had coughs and colds, well then just over two weeks ago i fell ill with a tummy bug and was rushed into hospital, there they did some test and a scan and told me that i had Cancer in my right lung also back in my neck as you can imagine it knocked me sideways,I really thought that I was free

I dont know if you can imagine the state that this news has left me in, and as with the last time my wife just will not talk to me, I dont blame her as i know she loves me as i do her but she has put up her protective barrier, what is on her side is how it was before and the reality does not get through, this keeps her safe and i would not have it any other way,but this does not help me I need to talk about it,perhaps this site will help as my moods are so black and it worries me.

  • hello to all

Well things seem to of ground to a halt today the gp has issued me with more anti biotics and pain rekief i am not sure why i think that it is to keep me quiet,i phoned the mac nurse  today to find out if she knew what was going on she said that she would phone my surgeons secretary but i have had no response, but she did intimate that it could be quite a while, making me feel quite low.

  • Hi James ... Good to hear from you but also sorry to hear that you are feeling so low. This waiting game is a really difficult time isnt it? I presume you are still waiting for a date for biopsies?  You have done the right thing to contact the GP and McMillan nurse - now just keep on their backs until you get some conclusions to your questions!!!!  Just to keep you up to date - after seeing the consultant on Monday, I will be having another operation before Xmas to get rid of my new liver tumour. I have had to come off chemo prior to surgery and feel fantastic (dont want to go back on it!!!). I cant believe how much energy I have got and had forgotten what its like to feel normal. I have spent two days redecorating the kitchen, run errands, and kept up with shopping, housework, Xmas cards/pressies. There is a risk with op because the tumour is growing on a major blood vessel but I guess we have to take a few risks in life or we will never know what might have been.  I do hope you get some news soon James - stay strong and make plenty of noise until you get your appts through, sadly you seem to have to chase everyone when you have this illness. I hope your pain is now under control and your general health is stable. Take care my friend and will speak soon. Max x
