Hi hun, my daughter has a small son also I understand you must be worried sick, the biopsy is ok my daughter said it didn't hurt hers was done by a coloscopy (think thats how its spelt) it's the waiting thats the worse it seems to take ages to get a proper diagnosis and to get told what  stage its at. I think my daughter is finding it hard to accept as she won't talk about it.You will get through it though its hard please keep me up to date on how you're getting on it's sometimes easier i've been told to talk on forums than in person.x

I just wanted to say hello. I am the sufferer, recently diagnosed (vulval cancer HPV related) but I have a 21 year old daughter who I am constantly badgering about getting a smear done regardless of her age. Your post totally hits home as to how important it is and it should be available to all young woman!! Cancer has no preference to age, race, sex etc but so many types of cancer can be treated when caught early enough. I personally think smears should be made available to all young woman as soon as they become sexually active as research informs us that certain cancers such as cervical, vulval etc are linked to the HPV virus. Sorry, I had to vent my opinion as it angers me to see that another young woman is now facing this awful disease! I hope that her treatment goes well and I will be thinking of you both xx

I am so sorry to read that you are facing this. stay strong, you will find the strength to face this and remember that you are not alone. This forum is a great source of comfort and a wonderful place to vent I know how you must be feeling, I am 41 and have 3 kids (21, 16, 7) and I have not told them of my diagnosis (only bits and pieces) as I don't want to worry them, that's what we do as Mom's...stay strong and positive. thanks for your replies it angers me so much too that if we lived in scotland wales or ireland my daughter could of had a smear at 21 yr old but cos we're in england she wasn't allowed one, She asked for one 7 month ago because she had a coil fitted at a clinic and they told her her cervix was inflamed and to go get a smear done but the dr said no she was too young I'm so mad about that I might even write to the government and ask them how they would feel if it was their daughter.

Loving-Mom, what amazes me is there are so many young woman that have gone through exactly what your daughter has, had problems, requested smears and the GP's refuse!!! I have a very good friend who's daughter has had problems and requested a smear and refused by her GP, it makes me mad mad mad!...For a modern country we seem to be backwards in so many areas of healthcare especially considering science has moved on so much...I can only imagine how you must be feeling, stay strong x
