FIT test over 400

Hi I am a 35 female, went into doctors about 3 weeks ago as I had a fever and lower back pain i put it down to a kidney infection had one bought of diarrhoea and then went back to normal. I did my FITT test one was lost at the hospital so I had to do another and I got a result of over 400. I have been back to the drs today and he made a referral and before I even got home I had a call from hospital to say that they had booked me a telephone appointment for tomorrow morning. I have anxiety depression and PTSD and now im in a right panic I cannot seem to calm myself down none of my grounding excercises are helping has anyone been in the same situation and everything been fine after your colonoscopy

Thanks

  • Hello Emski7991

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health issues which resulted in a raised FIT test result.

How did your telephone appointment go yesterday? I hope that the health professional that you spoke with was able to give you some answers and reassurance about things.

If there is anything you'd like to talk through with one of our nurses, you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

    Best wishes,

  • It went well I am in for blood tests today as they will not give me the laxatives unless I've had my kidney function blood test done then a waiting game for colonoscopy, spoke to my biological mum who has told me that her great grandfather and grandfather both had bowel cancer.

  • Hello Emski

I'm glad to hear that the necessary tests have been set in motion, and hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your colonoscopy.

Try not to focus too much on past family history. There could be many reasons for the raised result that you've had. The important thing now is to remain positive and focus on keeping well ahead of your appointment.

Do give our nurses a call if it would help to talk at any point, and let us know how you get on.

    We're here for you.
