Focal Therapy

I have been diagnosed with grade 1 cancer of the prostrate following a biopsy and am currently on Active surveillance  I.E. 3 monthly blood tests.

At some point I will have to make a decision about the choice of treatment, if and when the cancer grows. As documented elsewhere there are usually only 3 types of treatment generally available. However we are hearing on the news more & more about Focal Therapy and it's various forms. Does anyone have personal experience of this form of treatment?

  • Hi Frankie- my husband also has prostate cancer which was diagnosed 4 years ago in 2022.  He has been on active surveillance since that time & his PSA blood tests have remained fairly consistent since then so there has been no need to progress to any treatment.  Try to remain positive & take comfort that the medics don’t yet feel you need any treatment at the moment & that just monitoring your situation is the best option for you at this time.  My best wishes to you & I hope that you also may not have to make a decision on preferred future treatment in the near future.
