Hi I will and thank you for that much needed insight.you to take care and all the best to you too. shelly xx
Hi Gill just to let you know treatment going well, was soo nervous Monday, forgot to breath at the right times when holding breath for 30 sec,but I'm doing it OK now, meet some lovely people while waiting to have their treatment aswell. Thank you the great advice it really did help.Hope your doing OK best wishes shelly xx
Hi Shelly. It's so new, it's understandable to be nervous, but I'm glad you met some lovely people. It really does help to talk to others, doesn't it? I'm glad to have helped and I hope you're feeling ok. So good to hear it's going well. Take care and best wishes to you too. Gill xx
Hi Gill yes it really does help, you don't feel alone do you, although everyone is going through there personal journey there was chatting, support and even laughter.Tomorrow is my last day of radiotherapy and probably won't see those lovely people again but what a positive impact they had on me,thank you for your support too, hopefully I will be able to do the same for another person fearing the unknown. You to take care shelly
That's the lovely thing about something like this, that people understand and want to support others through that journey. It can be intimidating to some to ask questions to doctors and nurses, but someone just like you, who has faced similar worries can be easier to talk to. And laughter helps so much, doesn't it? Good luck and I'm not sure if there's a bell there to ring when you're finished? One of the doctors asked me to ring the bell on the way out because it helps people to know that others got through it. My daughter was with me and recorded it on her phone. I was quite tearful to hear the cheers and clapping from the waiting room as I left. Lovely to "meet" you, Shelly, and good luck.Gill xx
Aww that lovely people clapping and cheering for you,You deserve it.No we didnt have the bell ringing, nevertheless we had people wishing each other all the best.I did get chatting to a few ladies and men, with the ladies we were chatting about the radiotherapy and the effects from the tablets we were on, Equally we chatting to the men and what they were going through with a different form of cancer,Some how I felt lighter knowing that they were having the same problems, reactions to the treatment and it was normal, Life is strange isn't it through the toughest off times you meet the best people.
Well now to the next part the side effects from the radiotherapy, I'm hoping it's not to brutal time will tell,in the meantime I'm settling for a quiet weekend no travelling to appointments and resting.
How are you feeling and doing, sounds like you have a lovely daughter supporting you.How are you finding your recovery process and are you doing OK.
I'm wishing you well and that you have a lovely day shelly xx
I had quite a coincidence because my next door neighbour, a lovely man, found out that he had prostrate cancer at the same time I got my diagnosis. He was treated in a diffierent hospital so it wasn't possible for him to travel with me, but I had been given some links and shared them with him and his wife. They were both anxious but it turned out that he'd worked with the volunteer driver and they were able to chat during the journey. It made them a lot less nervous and they laughed about old times. It's odd how things like that work out, isn't it?
You're doing the right thing having a quiet weekend and resting and I hope things go ok for you. It's just nice to be sitting at home relaxing instead of everything revolving around hospital appointments, isn't it? Anything you're concerned about, there's always someone here to help, don't forget.
As for me, I'm doing fine and just got my first year mammogram. Just waiting for the result. Although, I recently knocked my forehead with the handle of a cleaner while putting it away. (My foster dog is a ex racing greyhound, so needs a lot of clearing up) Because I'm on blood thinners (from my stroke, nothing to do with the cancer) I had to be checked at the hospital and I have to go again tomorrow morning. They're very careful about these things, and that's reassuring. I shouldn't be long, I hope, because it's my daughter's birthday tomorrow and I've promised cake. Gill xx
Isn't it amazing how people pull together in their time of need, just mind blowing really, yes this platform is really helpful to so many.goodluck with your first mammogram results not that you ll need it.o dear poor you glad they looking after you well.you definitely need to be in time for cake and celebrating your daughters birthday .please let me know how you get on with your results, hope you get to have a big peace of cake you most definitely deserve it.Have a lovely day with your daughter tomorrow and best wishes to you shelly xx
