Rt Hemicolectomy following bowel obstruction

Hi everyone.

I had an emergency Rt Hemicolectomy for bowel obstruction on 17th July. Sadly, cancer was found in my Caecum. They removed my Ascending Colon and half of my Transverse Colon and my Terminal Ileum was resected.

Waiting for Histology results. Healing is frustratingly slow and painful, but i will get there. Sending love to you all x

  • Hi Janjayme and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am so sorry to hear that healing has been slow and painful following your emergency hemicolectomy and that they have found cancer in your caecum. I hope that you make a full recovery and that you are not in too much pain. I can imagine it is a bit of a frustrating time for you waiting to heal fully but also having to wait for your histology results and I hope that you won't have to wait much longer for these important results.

While you are waiting, I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news. I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have also had a hemicolectomy and a similar diagnosis and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. It helps sometimes to talk to others on here who are or have been in a similar boat.

Our cancer nurses are also only a free phone call away so don't hesitate to get in touch with them - you can ring their helpline on 0808 800 4040 and  it is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Keeping everything crossed for you for your histology results and wishing you fast and full healing from now on,

    Best wishes,
