Too slow…

CLog (part 10)

Too slow, aagghh, It’s so frustrating, still got side effects, still having good days and bad, still only sipping water and feeding through my Peg, but hey… I’m still here, for that I am more than grateful.

I had a walk yesterday, had half an hour in the gym today, I’m sleeping reasonably well, so I’m thankful for these small improvements, but so in need of real food.

Gets you thinking though doesn’t it, when you’ve a little more time on your hands… what about getting back to doing some fundraising… those who know me will be aware of my past efforts raising money for CRUK and I’ll be doing so again, as soon as I’m able… will it involve walking, maybe… will it involve the Lake District, why not… anybody with any thoughts, ideas, would you like to join me, let me know?!?!

I know I’ve mentioned my support network before, but it’s so important to recognise this, you don’t get through these periods in your life alone, it’s impossible and so again I’d like to thank all those that have checked in with me on a regular basis, you know who you are… my family of course and a special shout out for Mand, couldn’t have got through this without you. We should all remember it’s not just about the person going through this, it impacts those closest to you… massively!

  • Hi Mike

Your story about the frustration that comes with a slow recovery is so familiar. I know that many of the members here who have been through treatment for head and neck cancers will understand the desire for things to recover at a quicker pace so that you can eat some "real food".

It's great to hear that you've been able to get out for walks and to the gym and that you're sleeping well. These are all things that can help with your physical and mental recovery and your plans for fundraising will hopefully keep you motivated in your recovery.

Keep moving forward Mike and thanks again for sharing your journey with the community.

    Best wishes,
