Cancer? I have had abnormal bleeding for months and now having lots of tests so quickly. I can't help but think the worst.

Hi,

I’ve had abnormal bleeding now for a few months. I’m 48 and not in menopause. The bleeding has gradually got heavier, I don’t know what’s a period and what’s not anymore. I had an ultrasound, followed by an intravaginal scan. 24hrs later I’ve had contact from the hospital booking me in for further testing. Today I had an MRI, tomorrow 15-7-26 I’ve got a face to face with the gynae consultant. Monday I’ve got a Hysteroscopy and biopsy. As you can imagine I’m frantic with worry. This is all happening so fast. I can’t help but think the worst, I’m constantly googling. Not sure what information the consultant will give, as the MRI was only today, and I’ve not had the Hysteroscopy yet.

  • A very warm welcome to the forum Tory26 although I'm sorry about the abnormal bleeding you've been experiencing over the last few months.

Our members know how scary it can be when everything happens so quickly, so you are not alone, and hopefully those who have been in a similar situation or contended with the same symptoms will stop by soon to offer their experiences and advice.

I hope your appointment went well with the gynaecologist consultant the other day but if you have any other questions or concerns you can talk things through with one of our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and put your mind at ease at this anxious time.

We're sending you all our support Tory26 and wishing you all the best with your hysteroscopy on Monday.

    Kind regards,
