I’m not blogging…

CLog (part 2):

I’m not blogging, I’ve rechristened my updates, CLogs, three guesses what the C stands for?

If any of my comments within this update sound critical, they aren’t meant to, they are simply the facts.

As mentioned previously I’m going back to a key point in time, namely Friday 6th March this year.

We know our own bodies, don’t we… we know when something isn’t right and in theory we shouldn’t bury our heads, as many of us do, we should do something about it and I new something wasn’t right.

I had discomfort in the left side of my neck, the issue was that I’d already been diagnosed with arthritis and had tinnitus for many years and so repeat visits to my GP weren’t helpful, even though the discomfort was worsening and had been for some time and so on Friday 6th March, with a little encouragement from ‘The Rock’, namely….., I paid £140 for a half hour appointment at a BUPA clinic in Manchester… thinking back, arguably the £140 saved my life!

The doctor was brilliant, caring, considerate, a complete breath of fresh air I can’t speak highly enough of him and I will be forever grateful for his time.

At the end of my examination he told me that he thought I had a problem and wanted to fast track me into ‘the system’.. his opinion was that ‘it’ was head and neck cancer.

By close of play on that day my GP called, asked me to attend the surgery on Monday, which I did. A GP then examined me, gone are the days when you know your GP, it was another doc I’d never met before and his words were, “I don’t think it’s anything to worry about”  , how wrong he was.

Thankfully he referred me to ENT anyway and that’s where my next CLog will pick up!

Lessons from this update, listen to your body, follow up with your GP, don’t be brushed off and hopefully you’ll get the help you need, if not then seek further advice, early diagnosis is so important.
