Caring for wife with breast cancer

Hi all!

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. The active treatment is over (mastectomy, chemo, radiotherapy), but now the long term hormonal drug treatments have begun. Any advice for caring for someone for the long haul would be appreciated.

Also, I'm a massage therapist and working towards specialising in treating people with histories of cancer. Any advice on what you're looking for in a massage therapist that can cater to your needs (and what kinds of things to avoid) would be a great help!

  • Hi manchester26,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I hope that you are both getting on OK and that treatment has been OK so far for your wife.

We have some information on our website about supporting someone with cancer, as well as on hormone therapy for breast cancer - it may be that some of this is useful for your situation.

No doubt you will find the thoughts and advice of others most useful, so hopefully you'll get some more replies to your post here soon, including regarding your second point.

We also have nurses available if ever you'd like to talk things through with someone. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
