I received excellent care from the hospital, following detection of a cancerous polyp in my lower bowel. I had robotic surgery, which is less invasive, and followed the Enhanced Recovery Programme, which meant I was sent home the next day: it was a little scary at first, but with access to a nurse at all times, and visits in the first week, I did really well. However, I am still waiting for my results. Part of my bowel and lymph glands were removed and sent for testing. We booked a holiday with confidence that the results would be back by now. We leave tomorrow, the results are back, but I won’t see my consultant until after my holiday. Although I am fairly positive that I will be ok since the cancer was caught early, the waiting is by far the worst bit. Physically, I am fine and walking 5 miles a day, but mentally it’s sometimes difficult.
Sorry my introduction is a bit bleak, but I know I am not alone in feeling like this.
