Hi All,
Stumbled across this forum at just after 3am today, I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer back in 2018, Doctors removed my Prostate two weeks later,
In 2019 the Cancer returned in my Prostate bed area, Treatment was 42 Days of Radiotherapy, I recall the Radiographer telling me there you go, All finished, Go and enjoy a long life.
In 2021 the Cancer returned but this time on my Spine at level T1, Treatment this time was two sessions of SAB Radiotherapy, Having mould made of my head and shoulders was an experience and being clipped down to the Radiotherapy table was an experience I'd prefer not to do again,
In 2024 the Cancer returned once again but this time it was found on numerous places on my spine, I recall sitting in examination room with the two Consultants and my wife, My wife asked "Well what does that mean" "Is this treatable" How long are we talking about, That's when one of the Consultant replied "Well, We're probably taking about four to five years life expectancy"
I was prescribed Abiraterone tablets, Prednisolone tablets and Quarterly Zoladex implant injections, This has kept the Cancer away since then, I have Quarterly blood tests and Appointments which to date have been undetectable.
I was also diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 2021 and more recently a month ago diagnosed with Steroid Induced stage two diabetes which has doubled the amount of drugs I take on a daily basis.
I'm a husband, Dad of three, Grandad to five wonderful grandchildren who are my world and the reason why I want to stay around as long as I can,
The Staff have been amazing and hopefully they will find a way to keep me well for a long time.
Thank you to the doctors and researchers who work tirelessly every day to help folk like me.
