Hi, I came across this page searching for some information of my current situation. I may well have jumped the gun by joining, but was hoping my post would get some helpful advise, perhaps shared experience or knowledge.
I have several chronic health conditions, including being steroid dependant having had Cushings Syndrome for which the tumour and adrenal gland on my left kidney was removed, this surgery left me Adrenal Insufficiency as my remaining gland packed up and went to sleep. I therefore am dependent on 6 hourly dose of hydrocortisone. I am at risk if fatal adrenal crisis, I am unable to naturally produce Cortisol.Cushings caused my osteoarthritis arthritis to escalate quickly causing low bone density muscle loss and a very damaged spine including stenosis, I therefore live in chronic pain and have limited mobility, with soft connective tissue that easily tears, sometimes full rupture from the bone.
10 days ago I had an mri scan on my spine to see why my pain has become unbearable in my lower back and lower legs and feet, especially the left side. The scan picked up further degeneration in my spine but also a lesion on the left kidney. An ultrasound scan just a few say later confirmed a 2 cm heterogeneous lesion in and on the kidney, I was fast tracked and local urology called me for an assessment and to say they were requesting a cat scan with contrast , this scan was done just 4 days later. 2 days after the cat scan I got an email letter in my nhs app asking that I attend a face to face appointment in June with urology team at hospital. so this is where I am at now.
I’m obviously a little concerned, have done what most of us do nowadays and read dr google….. I was feeling ok about thongs until I’ve discovered that a high rate of 80% of an heterogeneous lesion of the kidney is indeed cancer, part of my condition is that I live with sick days rules to avoid going into a fatal adrenal crisis, I therefore have to double dose for procedures, or use emergency injection to give my body the cortisol it needs to cope, and so emotional stress is not safe for me, can anyone here that has been diagnosed with this type of lesion share their experience or knowledge, I’d be most grateful for any comments and sincerely hope that my post is acceptable in that I have not yet been told for 100% it is cancer although in my nhs app it is written that it is suspected.
Thank you for reading my introduction, sorry that it is long. I’ll be 66 in a couple of weeks time. I don’t think there’s blood in my urine, I am anaemic, wee frequently, am almost always hot, and am currently experiencing an increas in back pain and my lower left leg and foot, the leg pain being mostly on the outside bone from knee to ankle. Recent wee sample showed protein. Hope these symptoms help someone relate to my asking for general information in what I shoukd expect, should I be concerned.
Btw, a cyst was picked up in a joint in my spine so they already know this lession is not a cyst.
