worried partner

Hi

Just wanted to introduce myself, my partner who is 66 has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer ,which we cant seem to get our head around it because his bone scan was clear, MRI was clear, I think we got into the mindset it was just an enlarged prostate, but biopsy was Gleeson 9 and Psa 113, he his having a pet scan soon, It seems so unfair as he has no symptoms and is very active, the cancer was found through routine blood test, i was wondering if anyone else has had similar results and which way they went with their treatment the information we was given was just mind blowing, was wondering if any other partners out there who find them self in this whirlwind of emotions tell me how they are dealing with it, I'm just so angry and tearful which isn't helpful for him.

  • Hello Lolli5

I'm sorry to hear that your partner has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Understandably, this is a really worrying time for you, especially as you're still awiting for additional scans and the results before a treatment plan can be discussed.

I wanted to try to connect you up with another new member on the site  who posted a few days ago about their husband being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Although they are a little further along in the process and so have a clearer picture of the stage and treatment, I'm hoping that the two of you might be able to offer each other some support as you both navigate this journey with your loved ones.

Hopefully, over the coming weeks, your partner will meet with the specialists, and you'll get clearer answers about the recommended care that will be on offer to him. In the meantime, if it would help either of you to talk with one of our team of nurses, you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Lolli5 and let us know how things move along. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
