Breast Cancer Again After 25 years

Hi,

This year, in April past, my anniversary month (25 years from my first estrogen positive breast cancer - tamoxifen for 5 years), I was diagnosed with a rare papillary pre invasive carcinoma.  This did not show in my mammograms, and luckily was slow growing and encapsulated until symptoms really took off, and I was advised to ignore the mammogram results and was ultimately referred for an ultrasound and biopsies.  I am one week into recovering from my 2nd mastectomy with a Previna vacuum wound drain.  I am still in shock, since the chances of this are pretty low (0.3%).  It also had no connection to my first breast cancer.  I just wanted to warn women about dense breast tissue and mammograms: should you feel anything, get further testing before worsening symptoms -  should you feel a lump etc.  I fundraise for CRUK and talk about this each day with people, and often it is relatively ok, until it hits us, mentally and physically.

I get my results and plan of action in another week.  I am hoping it is relatively straightforward since it has not travelled.  Looking forward to meeting you, and wish you well.
