Bladder tumour found after husband went for prostate exam, now waiting for biopsy results. I can't believe how quickly things are moving. Is this normal?

hello, my husband recently went to gp for a prostate exam, 3 weeks later and he has now had a 4cm papillary and solid tumour from his bladder removed through a turbt operation. I can't quite get my head around how quickly things seem to be moving, is this a normal time span? He has been told he will get the results of the 3 x biopsies in 2 to 3 weeks, should i be concerned?

  • Heya. I recommend not stressing too much.

  • I understand the worries, I have just been told yesterday I have a tumour in my bladder and the turbt op and chemo is going to happen in just over a week, only went to the GP about 10 days ago , everything is moving fast. I am just so thankful that it is, faster it happens the better chance I have of a positive outcome. Wishing you and your husband all the best.

  • Hey all,

I’ve had bladder cancer since 2012 when I was 35, had it reoccur 4 times, I’ve had multiple ops, scans, cystoscopies, so if you have any questions I’m happy to answer them where I can.

However every bladder cancer is different. 2-3 weeks is normal timescales, as they have to have an MDT(Multi Disciplinary Team) meeting to discuss the treatment plan.

All cancer has a 2 - 3 week pathway where they treat you. So all these timescales are normal.

It is very hard for loved ones not to worry, and I have found I have coped with it better than my family and friends have.

Anyway if you have any questions I’m happy to answer where I can and tell you what I’ve experienced.
