Melanoma nightmare

Hi there I'm Gaz a 56yr old man who has had a run of nightmare melanoma it started with a large spot on my head that started to bleed and hurt eventually it was removed within 2 weeks to be told is was melanoma skin cancer I had more removed around the area so they was sure they got it all and I started a course of chemotherapy pills but after 6months I had to come off them as I could not stand all the side affects they done more scans and told me no more pills we do believe you are now clear 6 months later I'm rushed into hospital with severe head pain the ambulance team thought I was having a stroke well I was scanned immediately and told I had a brain tumour that was all I could remember I passed out with severe head pain my wife told me what happened next I was shocked well 6 months after that I have been told 3 different 3 by 3 different oncologist the last was a phone call 3 weeks ago it's a very aggressive melanoma tumour and it will kill me and also told me I have 6-12 months to live no cure and also the prognosis started from when I 1st went in hospital so I've already done around 7months now I'm absolutely gutted it's been all different stories from the start

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your aggressive melanoma Gaz. Have they mentioned any trial you can try or have you considered getting a second opinion as to what, if any, other treatment option may be worth trying? 

    If you haven't done so already, take a look at Melanoma Charity for Professionals, Patients & Public - Melanoma Focus They have a nurses helpline that you can ring for suggestions & they have a page of Trials that are currently available at some hospitals in the UK.
