Mammogram call back

I had a mammogram a couple of weeks ago.  It's only my second one.  First one came back clear.  I've been called back for further investigation.  The standard letter of another mammogram, ultrasound and possible biopsy etc.  It's normal to be worried but i'm totally spiralling.  I lost my husband to secondary melanoma 9 years ago and it left me with severe PTSD around the subject of cancer.  It's my worst nightmare and i've never been so frightened in my life.  I just needed to tell someone - sometimes talking to strangers is easier.  Happy to hear from anyone with their stories. xx

    A very warm welcome to the forum.

    I am sorry to hear that you are in such a state after your mammogram recall. This is something that pulls us all up short, but you have more reason than most having already lost your husband to melanoma - I am so sorry to hear about this.

    More people are recalled after their first mammogram than any other. This is because there are no previous results to compare the findings to. I know that this was your second, but that only leaves one other to compare them to. I was recalled early on with my routine mammograms. I had previously lost mu mum to secondary breast cancer. I agree that it was a terrifying wait, but fortunately the staff at the clinic were happy with the repeat mammogram. Do you have long to wait to be seen again?
