Petrified - have a PET/CT scan on Wednesday after nodules were found in both lungs, and are highly indicative of malignancy

Hello, I’m 72 and two weeks ago was told I have multiple ground glass nodules in both lungs with larger ones in both right and left upper lobes which are partially solid, 12mm and highly indicative of malignancy.

I’m having a PETCT scan this Wednesday, then possibly biopsies before referral to oncology for immunotherapy/chemo.

i have been told it’s inoperable and incurable.

I have been telling my GP for more than 2 years that I’m short of breath but I kept being told‘It’s your heart failure’ (which is well controlled). I had started to think it was all in my head.

I’m short of breath most of the time, even just getting up in the morning leaves me too breathless to talk.

i’m a retired District nurse so I probably know too much!

I am scared, can’t eat and feel sick all the time. My gp has given me Valium.

I really don’t know what I’m asking for!

  • A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat Lingalonga, although I'm sorry to hear that the nodules that have been found on your lungs may be malignant.

This must be a very scary and worrying time but I'm glad you've reached out to us as so many of our members will know what you're going through, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to offer their support and advice.

If it would help to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and support you at this time. They also have a section on the forum called ask the nurses, if it would be easier to make a post instead.

Good luck with your PET/CT scan tomorrow Lingalonga. We'll be thinking of you and sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
