Thyroid cancer - papillary carcinoma follicular Variant. My GPs are not giving me the correct dose of medication, what can I do?

Had a Thyroidectomy in 2010 woke up with vocal palsy so couldn't speak .

Took 4 years and 4 operations to get my Voice back.

My issue is my GP's do not understand that my TSH levels have to be below 0.1 for the cancer not to reappear, so they are giving me the wrong dose of Levothyroxine ( not enough).

I'm banging my head against a brick wall as the result of my dosage I'm permanently lethargic.

I was ok with my oncologist for 10 years and taking 150mg.

GP's are now giving me less than 100mg.

    I'm sorry to hear that you're concerned about the dose of Levothyroxine that your GP is prescribing for you and the impact that this is having, and may potentially have in the future, on your health. 

    If you're unhappy with your GP, you can always ask for a second opinion from another GP at the surgery or even contact the Practice Manager to explain your concerns. 

    If you think it may help to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.
