Hi Chris from London - wife told blood test results indicate cancer. Colonoscopy up next, but text came through for an appt in June. Surely this can't be right?

Hi. Wife, 66 had blood in her stool for few weeks and so they did blood tests, Saw consultant today and he says it indicates cancer. Next step is colonoscopy. He said should be 3 weeks maximum.

She had text at 4.30, after his Dept had closed at 4pm. Appt for 24th June. WHAT? She could be dead by then. She'll ring tomorrow and if no earlier one I'm contacting my MP. It's disgusting.

Suppose we could pay for one, around £2,000.

Obviously we are worried sick.

  • Hi ,just wanted to say that something doesn't seem right there ,I don't know how they can say it indicates cancer before the Colonoscopy to be fair  ,it could be one of many other things causing the test to show blood in the stools which is much more likely to be something far less sinister than cancer ,and if they really do suspect cancer I would have thought your appointment would be far sooner than 24th June so I would definitely check all of this out ,let us know how you get on and the outcome ,wishing you well .....

  • Thanks. Wife's employer's sister is a GP and says exactly same as you. They can't tell cancer from a blood test alone.
