Cervical Biopsies taken during colposcopy. Seemed very serious but I'm not sure what they're looking for. Any ideas?

Hi,

I had a Colposcopy today, it seemed very serious.

She took some biopsies, of both the cervix and the vaginal wall, did say a loop procedure could not be used moving forward and potential surgery under General.

I wish i had asked what she had seen, I understand the wait now for MDT and biopsy results but not sure what potentially I am looking at here, any advice appreciated.

  • Hello VickiVB

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns, which resulted in a colposcopy appointment and biopsies being taken. It's understandable that you might be feeling anxious about things.

Many women find that biopsies are taken during this procedure, so try not to worry too much about this. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your follow-up appointment, and the specialist will be able to give you some answers and reassurance when you see them.

In the meantime, if it would help to chat things through with one of our nurses, you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have some news soon VickiVB. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
