Previous kidney cancer, now awaiting further results

I had a kidney removed in 2021 due to stage 3 cancer.

operation success!   Early 2024 was diagnosed with Bladder cancer.  Had biopsies removed and tumours removed I had BCG treatment but no success.  2025 and early 2026 more biopsies and tumour removed.  There was a discussion that cancer is going up the Ureta to my only kidney.  I am awaiting the results and outcome.  There has been talk of Stoma but if cancer is in my only kidney then it will be kidney out then dialysis.
I am not taking this very well.  I am 77 years young.

  • Hello Lizlolly

I'm sorry to hear that the treatment you've been having since early 2024 hasn't been successful and that, following a recent appointment, you're now facing the prospect of more life-changing surgery. It's understandable that this all might feel a bit overwhelming at times.

Have the specialists said when you're likely to hear some news about the results and the recommended next steps? Hopefully, they will have some news for you soon and be able to offer some reassurance about your care moving forward.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you're being well supported by the healthcare professionals around you and that family and friends are rallying where they can. Keep posting here in the Cancer Chat community if it helps to have a safe space to put things down in writing. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
