Hi I'm a 53 year old male suffering from both advanced kidney cancer and secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which I guess makes me extremely unlucky but I refuse to give up and remain the eternal optimist.

Hello eternal optimist.
Your strong mindset will get you through whatever life throws at you. You've definitely been dealt a poor hand with two major illnesses to contend with. Keep that smile on your face and enjoy each day as it comes.

Hi Ed
Thank you very much for the reply, I totally agree with you a strong mindset can help you overcome any hurdle that life throws your way. I've had MS since 2000 and cancer since June 2025, I had a kidney removed initially with the hope that immunotherapy would put pay to any remaining cancer but it turns out immunotherapy is generally not suitable if you Have MS. I have been on targeted therapy (cabozantinib) for the past 4 months and a comparison between older and current CT scans shows zero progression since commencing treatment so maybe there's hope for me yet hey ;-)
The modern drug therapies are a huge step forward in cancer treatment. In addition to a good mindset, current age and previous levels of fitness prior to illness also seem to be a factor. Im receiving immunotherapy for advanced and metastatic skin cancer and its keeping it at bay. And we both have hope to keep us going.
