Kidney cancer - Husband's tumour was removed from his right kidney last year but something's now been found on a scan in his left. Could it be cancer again?

Hi,

my husband had a 5.5cm tumour removed off his right kidney January 25.
he had his 12 month scan 3 weeks ago and a 8mm ‘marker’ has been seen on his left kidney.

the consultant has said it’s a 50-50 chance of been cancer again but he will need to have another scan in 6 months to check growth.

my question really is, has anyone been in this situation where cancer has been found in the opposite kidney following removal of the original tumour and how big was it when you were able to have it removed?
