New to this: worried about colon cancer

  1. Hello everyone,  this is my first time posting.  To be blunt I think I have colon cancer.  Im 47 this April and im a single mom with 2 boys.  The past week, my stools were bloody, red blood.  No pain, no piles just a slighty thinner poo with blood, for 3 days this has happened.   Prior to finding the blood, in my stools , I feel  bloated and my tummy makes a lot of noise too,  also lower back pain.  My bowel feels full also even when I have been to the loo.

I have to be honest, im actually quite scared, I have all the symtoms and not yet booked an Appointment with my doctor.  Do I wait for the 3 weeks before I go to my doctors and present my symptoms.?  I dont know and I dont want to worry any of my family.  I feel stuck.

Any advice would be greatly received.  Thanks if you took the time to read x x x.

  • Please go.  I waited months and only been to the doctors last week. Waiting for appointment for colonoscopy.  There are lots of other less serious issues it could be.

  • Thanks for replying.  I am going to make an appointment for sure, but do you think I need to wait the 3 weeks of it being persistant to go as it states ?  Im sure its cancer.  I do have all the symptoms,  unfortunately!  Thankyou again, much appreciated xx

  • I would go as soon as possible.  Im sure you would feel better rather than worrying for the next few weeks.   Good luck and try not to worry.

  • Hi if I were you I'd make an appointment today because you probably won't get in straight away then there will probably tests to do to find out what's really going on ,If you are worried about your symptoms I don't see any reason to wait and I know you will feel better after you've seen your GP ,let us know how you get on ,I've had 2 Colonoscopies and they were fine ....

  • I have an urgent referral for colonoscopy. I am honestly dreading it. Finding it hard to eat or sleep

  • Hi Tugs its good to hear you have a referral lets hope your appointment comes through quickly ,I too was dreading it and when you hear urgent referral it sounds bad but to be fair its just to get you seen quicker ,as you've already said it could be so many other things causing your fit test to be higher than it should be ,both of mine turned out being Diverticulitis (very common)  internal piles and a small polyp which turned out to be nothing ,you usually find out on the day of Colonoscopy if they find anything or nothing ,I hope all goes well for you .

  • Hope it does turn out something like that. Been feeling  really down and sorry for myself yesterday.  Need to pull myself together.  What symptoms did you have?

  • Its very understandable that you're feeling down ,I was the same and I've heard many on here say the same ,my symptoms were Diahrreah non-stop for many weeks ,I couldn't eat a thing without it instantly going straight through me ,big weight loss and obviously blood in stool samples ,they also did other blood tests which showed other elevations ,not sure what they were .
