Hello - diagnosed with Barrett's Oesophagus, worried about it becoming oesophageal cancer, especially as I just became 10 years cancer free from thyroid cancer

Hi, after taking a weight loss injections for under 3 weeks....this entailed loss of appetite and continuous vomiting I suffered a mallory weuss tear,  unconscious with significant blood loss. Following hydration via a drip and blood transfusion plus 6 days hospitalisation....then endoscopy 4 weeks later received a diagnosis of barretts oesophagus.

Very few people go on to experience/ suffer from oesophageal cancer but it is slightly worrying. Especially,  since I have recently reached 10years post thyroid cancer and now completely cancer free.

Sorry for going on but just had to put that out rather than keep it to myself. Thanks for listening.

  • Hi Loone,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. As you say, sometimes it is good to reach out and write things down.

If you haven't already, it may be helpful to discuss your concerns with your doctor, who can perhaps advise or offer reassurances.

In the meantime, hopefully you'll get more replies to your post here soon, particularly if others with similar experience see it.

    Wishing you all the best,
