High calprotectin levels

Hi all,

Over new year I suddenly become very poorly I was diagnosed with Covid and campylobacter virus (food poisoning) I was sent for a ct scan where they flagged up Crohn’s disease. After taking stool sa les a few days later it’s come in that my calprotectin levels are over 6000. I’ve been booked in as an emergency to have colonoscopy next Monday. It’s been over 2 weeks now I cannot keep anything i food or drink it’s comes straight out. I have lost 2 stone in less than 2 weeks I’m really scared  does anybody have any similar stories that came back ok?
thank you x

  • All I can comment on is the fact that for quite a few weeks everything I ate went in one end and out the other ,when I say everything I mean everything ,this was early last year  ,and I lost weight then I had a positive fit test which lead to me having a Colonoscopy and a CT scan but thankfully nothing sinister was found ,If they have flagged up Crohn's Disease I'd be thinking along those lines rather than anything more sinister ,if you have any questions on the Colonoscopy just ask ,I've had 2 now so might be able to help .

  • Thank you so much for your reply. I’m the same literally everything is going straight through me. I’m tired and weak as you can imagine. I am scared of the colonoscopy but I’m being sedated will I be in pain afterwards?

  • The only thing I could eat I found ,was white rice so I started making homemade rice pudding everyday and it worked and things went back to normal ,I tried imodium for weeks they did not work ,I stopped trying to eat any normal food and just ate white bread toasted ,white rice and a few other things nothing spicy greasy or fatty ,I know its a pain but its worth it ,the 2 Colonoscopies I had were both fine no pain and they are able to tell you on the day if they have found anything bad .

  • Thank you I will just have to wait and see what comes out of Monday.
Thank you for your response I appreciate it x
