Hi Purvis,
I am so sorry to hear you are alone looking after your dad this Christmas and that he is in his final days. This is truly heart-breaking and it's hard to find the right words but I just wanted to say we are thinking of you during this difficult time and we are here for you on the forum for support or if you simply want to reach out and talk to someone.
Maggie's have a useful page on coping with cancer at Christmas and if you have a Maggie's centre near you, don't hesitate to go and visit them for support - they have cancer support specialists who are there to help.
This Christmas is going to be so hard for you and it's so nice of you to be looking after your dad but being by his side all alone must be so hard and I just wanted you to know we are here for you and sadly other members of our forum will be in a similar place at the moment looking after a loved one who is terminally ill with cancer.
Best wishes,

I have been looking after him for 4 months now, he is 82 and has lung cancer, its been quite a journey, I haven't really had much time to think about it all until tonight and now its just me and him, alone , hes semi conscious but unable to speak so ive been talking about when we were all litte and at home ,how we used to spend Xmas eve, then I thought I ant be the only person in this type of situation and if I could reach out and help someone else tonight
You must be quite exhausted looking after him for 4 months now but I am sure he really appreciates what you have done for him and I am sure he can hear you and it is such a lovely idea to talk to him about when you were little and at home, how you used to spend Christmas eve - those are bound to be memories that are deeply ingrained in both of you, nice positive memory that you will both want to relive.
Sadly, you're definitely not alone in this type of situation and I hope that someone else will see your post and comment with their own story and experience.
