Post Op Skin Cancer waiting

Hello, I had a small op yesterday to remove a large lesion on my forehead. It started growing around 8 weeks ago, rapidly, I was shocked because it came from no where after being poorly with Shingles. The dermatologist has a concern for Merkle Cell carcinoma. The hospital were amazing and very kind. I also have a small one on my thigh they removed. I’m trying not to be vain, but as it’s on my forehead, at work people have made lots of comments prior to surgery. It was so glaring, like a bright red nose. This morning I have 10 stitches across my head and I’m in shock and it’s very sore. I’m 54 female. They have said it’s BCC if not Merkle or another one AFX.

  • Hello Papercrane

I'm sorry to hear that you've had a skin cancer removed earlier this week. It's understandable that you've been feeling shocked and sore by things, and I'm sure that the fact this has been removed from your forehead has added to the difficulty of things.

It's still very early days in the healing process, and over the coming weeks and months, hopefully the scar will settle and become less noticeable.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our team of nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the results from the dermatology team and they will be able to give you some reassurance.

Keep in touch papercrane and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
