29 year old recovering from thyroid and partial parathyroid removal

Trying to find my footing after cancer removal the surgery went well everything seems to be going well was in hospital bed for 4 days and then mobilised and discharged in the next two now taking time to heal but struggling with the feeling of wanting to go out and enjoy not being in hospital and trying to take the time my body needs as i feel fine and full of energy after the news

  • Hello boredguy

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been through surgery following a diagnosis of thyroid cancer. It's good to hear that you're now home again and trying to make sure that you give your body the time it needs to heal and adjust.

I know many people here will understand the frustration that can come with wanting to do more or get back to normal after a surgery, but balancing that against giving your body time to heal. What guidance were you given by the hospital team about your recovery? Perhaps you can set yourself a small goal each day of doing a small task and then giving yourself time to recover. The most important thing is not to overdo it and risk pushing back your recovery.

If it would help to chat things through with one of our team of nurses, you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

I hope that things continue to progress well for you and you're able to get out and enjoy some of the seasonal festivities soon.

    Best wishes,
