Just diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer and waiting for MRI. The waiting is getting to me. It feels like all I've done is wait

I received my stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis on Thursday 27/11/25.

  1. I'm now waiting for an mri scan as the mammogram and ultrasound measured 2 different sizes . Its the waiting that is getting to me . I know it takes time but I feel like all I've done is wait .
  2. My mum passed away from secondary breast cancer 12 years ago . I knew from the start when I found the lump what the diagnosis would be
  • Hello Nettynoo47 and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry to hear you've recently been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer and that you're now patiently waiting for an MRI.

The waiting really is one of the hardest parts of this process but hopefully with the support you receive from our members, many of whom have been through this torturous time themselves, it will be slightly easier to bear.

I hope this guide we have on how to cope with waiting will be useful but if it would help to talk things through with someone, then don't hesitate in giving our team of cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will be more than happy to address your concerns and support you whilst you wait.

We're thinking of you Nettynoo47 and we'll have our fingers crossed you get to have your MRI soon.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
