Newbie - history of NHL and breast cancer

Hi Im Lynn and while not new to the world of cancer Im new here. I've tuned into a few support groups online and found some valuable advice and plenty of support with most. My history of cancer includes non hodgkins lymphoma diagnosed December 2018 followed by a recurrence in 2020 after having radiotherapy. In remission by March 2021 after chemotherapy and 2 years of rotuximab. Onwards to January 2025 and following a routine mammogram, this picked up cancer which required a lumpectomy and radiotherapy as well as Letrozole for the next 5 years. I count myself very lucky compared to others but still feel low at times.

  • Hello Lynn and thank you for joining us and for sharing your story on here,

You certainly do not seem new to cancer and I hope that you will find the support you need on Cancer Chat. Poor you having had to deal with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and then a recurrence in 2020 before being in remission. It's normal to feel low in your situation after everything you've been through and your recent breast cancer diagnosis - you've had to fight two very different cancers within just a few years and you've had so many different treatments which seem to have been successful fingers crossed. I hope it will all go well for you with letrozole for the next 5 years with no significant side effects.

Our nurse helpline is always there if you have any questions at any point or simply want to talk to someone about everything you've experienced in recent years. The number to call is 0808 800 4040 and you can talk to them Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that other members of our community who have been through breast cancer and NHL will come along and share their experiences with you. It helps to talk to others sometimes who know exactly how you are feeling and what you have been through in recent years.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
