A caring husband

I turned 80 in September and up to 8 months ago everything was fine although I new my wife was developing dementia. We are hoping to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary in 2027. We've enjoyed holidays in the sun and have 2 booked for next year. I had a hip replacement 2 years ago and gave up golf. I do exercises every day and remain fit and healthy.

  • Hi Trev1234,

It's lovely to hear from you and we wanted to welcome you to our friendly community. You certainly are a very caring husband and it's amazing you are fast approaching your 60th wedding anniversary. I hope that you will get to celebrate it in style!

It's fantastic that you already have 2 holidays in the sun booked for next year - something to look forward to and I bet they are nice sunny destinations. It's a shame you had to give up golf after your hip replacement 2 years ago but it sounds like you managed to find a way to exercise daily and keep fit and healthy.

The forum is always here for you anytime you want to reach out to others who have also been affected by cancer or looked after a loved one with cancer.

    Best wishes,
