- I was diagnosed on 3rd January by phone had a full hysterectomy 20 days later all clear but my brain cannot process what has happened
Hey Anne,
I noticed you haven't had a reply just yet so I wanted to stop by to say hello, and to reassure you that your post has been seen.
Finding out you have cancer and being operated on all in the space of 20 days is a lot to get your head around, even more so when you are then given the all clear, so it's completely understandable why you've been struggling to process everything that has happened to you Anne.
I'm not sure from your post if you have spoken to anyone about this but you've been very brave by joining us here on the Cancer Chat forum and sharing how you feel. Hopefully some of our members who have been through a similarly jarring experience will be along soon to offer their support and advice but if it would help to speak to someone about what you're going through, our team of cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They are very easy to talk to and will do all they can to support you at this time.
If you feel comfortable doing so, it may be worth booking an appointment with your GP as they will be able to tell you about services in your local area where you can connect with others who know what you're going through. The cancer charity Maggie's also provides free expert care and advice to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer, and if you're based near any of their support centres you can visit them in person, no appointment needed.
Quite a few of our members found counselling really helped them during and after their cancer journeys so if this is something you think you may benefit from, you can find out more about counselling and cancer on our website. It provides a lot of information on the different types of counselling that are available and how you can access them.
I hope this helps Anne and you're able to find the support you need to help you come to terms with your cancer.
Kind regards,
Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
