High calprotectin

I have had high calprotectin 800. My GP is phoning me on Monday I was in hospital a week for ischemic colitis a month ago

  • Hello Gillian1961

I'm sorry to hear that you've been unwell recently and that following some tests, you now have an appointment with your GP on Monday to discuss your raised calprotectin level. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious.

It might help to try and keep in mind that a raised calprotectin result can be due to a number of reasons other than cancer. Results can be affected by problems such as infection and inflammation. Hopefully your GP will be able to give you some reassurance when you speak with them and may arrange some additional tests or referrals to try and find out how best to improve things for you.

Do let us know how you get on with your appointment.

    Best wishes,
