Hi. I'm a stage 4 prostate cancer case. I was on Apalutamide and have been taken off it as my blood pressure went up to 195. Awaiting tests to see if it's Apalutamide or radiotherapy that has increased the blood pressure.
OMG, you shouldn't be attempting to control the pain.
There are only 4 drugs that are classed as androgen receptor inhibitors (or antiandrogens) and Apalutamide is one of them. The other 3 are bicalutamide, enzalutamide, and darolutamide.
These are 4 powerful drugs and each one has different side effects.
Apalutamide can weaken bone and you should have been given Adcal-D3 to prevent this from happening. Prevention is better than cure.
If you are suffering from the side effects of Apalutamide the doctor can try you on one of the other 3 drugs.
I take it, your pharmacist at the hospital prescribes the Apalutamide and it's delivered to your door. The reason being, those pills are £100 each.
You should be in touch with your pharmacist each month and they monitor you blood tests for PSA readings and how you are getting on with the drugs, They then relay this information to the doctor who is in control of your case.
You need to speak to the pharmacist and say the pain is unbearable and you cannot tolerate it any longer and see what they say.
I certainly would not take Apalutamide without Adcal-D3.
Please let me know how you get on
Regards
Paul.
