Cervical cancer symptoms pathway

Hello I'm looking for some advice as feeling unsure and deflated. I'm 38 Beginning of August I had uti Symtoms had antibiotics didn't do anything had another lot of antibiotics again do anything had some bleeding in between periods, my periods changed from light to heavy, unusual discharge, back, pain, ovary pain, Intense itching, leg pain, neck swelling on left side, pulling sensation in lower tummy from sitting to standing saw a doctor dismissed Symtoms saw another doctor had a smear results were negative but cervix was red and inflamed and bled easily on touch so they booked a routine ultrasound I saw another doctor who did another Examination and said they was fast tracking me. I had bloods done ca125 was 13 esr rate was high at 20 and serum total bilirubin level was 4 but they are not concerned and all other bloods were normal. Had treatment for thrush and bv along with a third antibiotics Had fast track appointment Today and it felt so rushed i don't feel like I got any answers. She used nitrate to treat bleeding she didn't tell me until after. She took swabs didn't tell me what she was swabbing for and gave me antibiotics again didn't tell what they for. I was too anixous to ask and was feeling uncomfortable because there was a man in the room and I said weeks ago I prefer women but l rang the sectary after they said she swabbed for potential infection and treated for potential infection. I have an ultrasound booked for the 11th of November I said do l still go for this she said yes and if anything seen on that I will be called to come back in sooner. She said if my Symtoms go away I don't need to see her again but if my Symtoms stay I need to rebook to see her in 6 to 8 months time and to track in the mean time She only seemed to keep mentioning the bleeding and didn't mention the other Symtoms I've been getting. I thought I would of got answers today that it... And not cancer heres the treatment plan etc etc but I'm just left in limbo still without the ultrasound they can't see the inside of my body and I don't know what's actually wrong with me either. I've been given no advice on after care from having the nitrate luckily Google gave me some. I just feel so deflated maybe I was nieve to think I'd get some answers after nearly 3 months.

  • As your post hadn’t received a reply yet, I thought I’d take a moment to say hello and welcome you to our forum, Jen38.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been left feeling so unsure and deflated. It sounds like it’s been an exhausting few months, and it’s completely understandable that the fast-tracked appointment left you feeling anxious and without the clarity you were hoping for.

It can be frustrating when symptoms continue and answers feel slow to come, especially when there’s a lot going on and you’re not sure what each test or treatment is for. It’s a good idea to keep tracking your symptoms, and if anything changes or gets worse, do reach out to your GP sooner rather than waiting.

Your ultrasound on 11th November will give more insight, and hopefully it will provide some clearer answers. If it would help to talk things through in the meantime, our nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and can offer support and information.

Just know that whatever the outcome is you’re not alone and we’re always here if you need a chat.

    All the best,
