Small recurrent metastatic legion right chest wall consistent with recurrent breast cancer triple negative

Hi all

TNBC June 2022.

I have recently had biopsy results for a lump inside my pectoral muscle. This has come back as a small recurrent metastatic legion in my right chest wall, and consultant is saying it is consistent with recurrent breast cancer triple negative.

I had a PET scan a week last Friday which I will get the results for tomorrow afternoon to see if it has spread anywhere else.

I have been having a lot of chronic pain in my shoulder which I have told my consultant and breast nurses about for months and months and I've also had input from a musculoskeletal consultant who looked after me for six months doing scans and xrays etc.

I have had a recent full body bone scan and mri of my spine and there no metastasis found but because these were 2 to 3 months ago he wants the PET scan to make sure nothing has changed since then.

I am hoping that the shoulder pain is musculoskeletal and arthritis in the shoulder.

I am very very scared for my results tomorrow.

Just want the lump removing and to get started on whatever treatment they say I need

  • Hey Jojo82,

I noticed you mentioned that you were getting your results yesterday so I just wanted to check in and see how you got on.

I really do hope the cancer hasn't spread and that you won't have to wait too long for treatment to get underway so this lump can be removed.

If the news wasn't what you were hoping for then I hope you can take some strength, and comfort, from knowing that our community is here for you Jojo82 and that we will be by your side to support you with whatever comes next.

If there is anything else that was mentioned during your appointment that you'd like to discuss in more detail with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to address any other questions or concerns.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph,

Thanks for your reply. The good news is that it hasn't spread but they won't/can't operate.

I have to wait to see the radiotherapy specialist and Oncologist in the next two weeks.

My head is all over, me and my husband were europhic one minute then not the next.

I don't know what to think or feel anymore.

    Jo

  • I'm sorry about the mixed results you've had Jo.

It must be very difficult contending with so many thoughts and emotions but just remember that this is completely normal given what you've just found out so be kind to yourself and make sure you take all the time you need to process the news you've just been given.

As mentioned in my previous reply, you're more than welcome to talk things through with our cancer nurses, including the radiotherapy that you will be having.

Do continue to post if you find it helpful Jo as we'll always be here to listen and hopefully it will help you feel less alone as you move forward on this journey.

    Kind regards,
