Recently diagnosed with bladder cancer

I was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer.  It came as a huge shock as I had no symptoms other than a UTI which recurred and eventually showed a lot of blood in urine.  The doctors  have recommended chemotherapy, which will start soon.  I have good support at home and from family and friends but it’s so hard to be positive sometimes especially when I feel the opposite way. I’m not the only one who feels like this?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Kerstin1 although I'm sorry to hear you were recently diagnosed with bladder cancer.

As you can see on our website being diagnosed with cancer can make you feel a whole range of emotions, including how difficult it can be to stay positive, so how you are feeling right now is completely normal and I'm sure it won't be long until some of our members stop by to offer their reassurance and advice.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very understanding and with their knowledge and insight they will do all they can to address any other questions or concerns you may have at this time.

We're sending you all our support Kerstin and wishing you all the best with the start of your chemo.

    Kind regards,
