Melanoma

I’ve was diagnosed with melanoma stage 3b in June. I’m currently waiting on a second WLE then I’m being referred to oncology. It’s all came as such a shock. Friends have commented on how calm I am about it all, but I think I’m still in shock, I can’t quite believe it I don’t even feel Ill.

  • Hi Nanal,

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. The problem with melanoma is that, unless it's causing symptoms because it's spread to an organ, patients feel fit & healthy. This then makes it harder to take in, especially when friends & family think you don't look ill.

It takes a while to start taking it all in - usually when you start adjuvant treatment! It's good to chat with others who are in the same position as yourself as it helps you understand that your response to your diagnosis is quite normal & that everyone goes through the same. I'll send you a friend request so that, if you wish to chat, we can do so by private message. Meanwhile, good luck with your WLE and oncology appointment.
