Brother just diagnosed with bone cancer

Hi, my older brother has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer which has spread to his bones. We just lost our mum and dad within the past 2 years and I’m terrified of losing him now. I’m trying to put on a brave face but inside I’m screaming! Would love to hear from any other siblings who are supporting their loved ones and tips on how to cope with this. Thanks

  • Hello Uno1

I'm sorry to hear that your brother has just been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. It's understandable that you're feeling so very scared and overwhelmed by this news, particularly as you've lost both your parents within a short space of time.

We have some information on our website for family and friends of people diagnosed with cancer that may be helpful. Hopefully, some of the community members who are caring for a loved on, or who are living with metastatic prostate cancer, will post to share their experiences and support with you. In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpfu lto talk things through with one of our team of nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them, they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (freephone).

I hope that you can find some support from other family members and friends as you navigate your way through this difficult time Uno1. Keep in touch and let us know how you're both coping - we're here for you.

Sending you both my best wishes,
