Advanced prostate cancer

Hiya all, my name is Babs and my husband has advanced prostate cancer, at the beginning of the year he went for stereotactic radiotherapy as he had a tumour on his spine, I thought that would be him ok for a good while, No, it’s back and we will find out on Tuesday where

what’s really getting to me, is since stereotactic treatment his psa has never been ok, going up at each test. And that was 6/7 months ago.

He has been constantly exhausted, if we go anywhere for a holiday he needs to take steroids, he has started feeling very sick for just over a wk and is not eating as he usually does. I’m actually finding it pretty difficult at this time. Of course we have had the dreaded wait until we find out where the cancer has gone now.

it sure is hard not being able to make things better for your loved one. X

  • Hello Babs and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I'm sorry to hear about how your husband has been feeling and how this is affecting you. The symptoms you're describing are common side effects of radiotherapy, which you can read more advice about on our website. We also have guidance for family, friends and carers, as it's important to look after yourself when a loved one has cancer.

I'd encourage you to speak to the doctor about these things, if you haven't already, and if you or your husband would like to speak to one of our cancer nurses about anything, you can call free and anonymously on 0808 800 4040. Lines are open 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

    I hope this is helpful,
