Arm - seems I have a squamous cell cancer. Waiting for an appointment but worried as it seems to be growing in size

After some time with actinic keratosis on my chest and upper arms, treated with diclofenac gel and improving : seems I have a squamous cell cancer on  a forearm. I am waiting for an appointment presumably for a biopsy. Thing is this cancer appears to be growing quickly, in diameter and 'height' also it is painful to touch. Am concerned my Dad died as a result of skin cancer.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat K8BRO although I'm sorry to hear you may have squamous cell cancer on your forearm.

Waiting for appointments is always tough but I hope it helps to know that our members, many of which have been in a similar position, are here for you K8BRO and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

I hope this guide we have on how to cope with the wait will be useful but if you would like to talk things through with someone, you can give our cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

We're sending you all our support K8BRO and we'll have our fingers crossed your appointment comes through soon.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
