My cancer - had prostate cancer since 2016 now secondary cancer on right kidney. Pain in that area is not going away or improving. What should I do?

Have had prostate cancer since 2016 and have recently been diagnosed with secondary cancer node on my right kidney, which has grown in size from 15m to 30 mm diagnosed after my recent bone and body scans update. Am experiencing pain on right side daily ? Have notified my oncology nurse of this pain but she informs me that pain would not be related to the kidney.  Am now quite concerned that pain is in right side kidney area is not going away or improving, can you advise ? I am on REMOTE MONITORING with oncology department so they are keeping me update with 12week PSA blood tests.

thank you regards Ray

  • Hello Ray and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear about your secondary kidney cancer diagnosis and the pain you've been experiencing in that area.

I really do hope things have improved since you made this post but if not, make sure you let your medical team know once more so this can be looked at and you can get some much needed answers and peace of mind.

Hopefully some of our members who have contended with something similar will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice but you're very welcome to give our team of cancer nurses a call about this as well on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and they will do all they can to address your concerns.

Do let us know how you get on Ray. We'll be thinking of you and hoping this gets resolved soon.

    Kind regards,
