Fatigue following VATS segmentation

Hello everybody. I had a VATS segmentation on my upper right lung in February of this year.  Luckily no further treatment was required and I've been doing really. Howver my fatigue seems to be getting worse, especially in the mornings. Has anybody else experienced this.

  • Hello Kettle

I'm sorry to hear that you underwent a VATS surgery earlier this year and that, although you luckily didn't need any further treatment, you're still struggling with fatigue.

It's certainly worth talking with your GP or specialist about this problem so that if any additional tests are appropriate, these can be arranged. It may be that the team decide to refer you to another team such as physiotherapy, to see if your situation can be improved.

If you'd like to talk with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that things improve for you Kettle. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply Jenn. I did actually visit my GP yesterday and am having blood tests next week. GP also prescribed peppermint oil capsules as I struggle with bloating and burping which started the day after my surgery. I've tried numerous medications to alleviate this problem with no relief so far. Hoping the peppermint oil will do the trick. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this.
